Optimizing the Agency/Client Comms Relationship

For an agency, working with a client’s internal communications team can be a dicey proposition, but for Katcher Vaughn & Bailey Public Relations account supervisor Heather Schablik, the relationship was close to seamless. Following are her tips for other PR executives wishing to use the Culture of Wellness initiative as a template for similar cooperative efforts with clients:

• Have a comprehensive plan, but also be flexible: The latter is critical, notes Schablik. “We had this great plan put together. We definitely added and subtracted to it as we went.”

• List the support you need on the front end.

• Make sure everyone on the team knows what their responsibilities are so there’s no duplication of efforts.

• Use every media channel at your disposal.

• Make sure your messaging is consistent throughout.
