Media Metrics

Tracking education life is big business for mainstream media. U.S. News & World Report, of course, each year runs special issues devoted to the best U.S. colleges
and best graduate schools while BusinessWeek every other year takes an in-depth look at the top biz schools. Newsweek has also gotten into the act, running a cover
story earlier this month on the nation's best high schools.

But where do grads go once they're finished with academe and ready for the workplace (and corporate messaging)? Not necessarily to the major markets or satellite cities,
according to stats on college graduates compiled by Delahaye.

The top markets (indexed results), for college graduates who have one degree, for example, include Raleigh-Durham, N.C. and Madison, Wisc. Plus, a little further down the
line, Des Moines, Iowa and Ann Arbor, Mich. (see charts).

Boston, which is arguably the country's biggest collegiate hub -- try finding anyone over 30 -- falls in the fifth slot for both college graduates with one degree as well as
an advanced college degree.
