1820 Gateway Drive Suite 100 San Mateo, CA 94404

After last month's merger with Hearst Corporation's HomeArts.com, women.com is vying to become the No. 1 player in women's Web sites. This partnership is not only good news for the staff at the newly created Women.com Networks (http://www.women.com), but it also means greater online pitching opportunity. Under the deal, HomeArts.com becomes the New York division of women.com, providing stories on careers, family and health issues. VP of Programming and Editor-in-Chief Laurie Kretchmar wants ideas for the busy, sophisticated woman. (HHI, mid $50,000; ages 21-55)

SECTIONS: SMALL BUSINESS

This section covers any and all information about women starting their own companies. Ideas focusing on buying decisions, legal services or marketing your company are of interest.

EDITORS/LEAD TIME: Director of Programming, Lisa Stone-Norman Fax: 650/378-6599 Phone: 650/378-6500

Lead Time: rolling

METHODS: Staff at Web publishing ventures usually prefer e-mail and Stone-Norman is no exception. Mail is also acceptable for evergreen information.

COMMENTS: Studies, surveys and trends are especially useful to this section and your best bet to getting coverage.

Staff reiterates the ever-popular, "look at the Web site before calling or e-mailing." Kretchmar says show your knowledge of the site and to gain high marks with the producers.

SECTIONS: HEALTH AND FITNESS

Women.com prides itself onthe extensive health and fitness information it provides viewers. The addition of HomeArts.com only enhances this area of the site, so provide all relevant health trends and surveys to the staff.

EDITORS/LEAD TIME: Community Manager, Melinda Iverson Fax: 650/378-6599 Phone: 650/378-6500

Lead Time: rolling

METHODS: Again, e-mail only.

COMMENTS: Iverson always looks for guests for an online chat session, an area of the health and fitness section. Guests should be experts in the field of health and fitness and can include book authors or health reporters. This section also culls information from Prevention magazine.

Remember to pitch timely information. For example, this section might do a special toning up for summer story.
