Don’t Mess With Cows

Next time your ad department is toying with a campaign that makes light of the plight of animals, tell them to save you the headache. After being pummeled with complaints about its commercial for a leather jacket with goose down, Eddie Bauer pulled its commercial and added work for its PR department. Seems some people - with the support of the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) - were offended by the ad which features footage of live geese and cows accompanied by the Connie Francis song, "I'm Sorry, So Sorry" and the announcement, "Good news for you. Bad news for geese and cows." Making the coats is okay; making fun of the contributors is not.(PETA, Anna West, 757/622-7382, ext. 306.)
