But CEOs Accountable for Rebuilding Trust

Golin/Harris' latest survey, "Trust in American Business," on the other hand, shows that 37 percent of 200 Americans polled in June believe the crisis of trust will get worse
over the next few months (perhaps they had a crystal ball view of the WorldCom debacle?). Only 38 percent of those respondents believe that CEOs are doing enough to restore trust
in American business. Their suggestions:

  • Make customers the top priority, 91 percent
  • Assume personal responsibility and accountability, 90 percent
  • Communicate openly and frequently, 89 percent
  • Handle crises better and more honestly, 87 percent
  • Stick to code of business ethics no matter what, 85 percent
