Back Talk: Communications Audits: A Panacea Or A Bitter Pill?

As discussed in "Fear and Loathing in the C-suite: De-mystifying the Comms Audit," the idea of conducting a communications audit for your organization can invoke the pure terror

among even the most steely-nerved executives. However, the benefits of an audit - both in terms of organizational goals, productivity and bottom-line business results - should

outweigh any causes for concern.

While any organization could benefit from a communications audit, ones that are currently in the hot-seat for continuously botched PR efforts (Wal-Mart, for example) would be good

candidates, as are companies in the financial services industry.

Given this food for thought, PR News editors want to know what you think of communications audits. Has your organization conducted one? Were the executives doing so met with

resistance from senior management? Did the audit achieve its goals?
