Top Women in PR: Wendy Lund

Wendy Lund, CEO, GCI Health

Under Wendy’s leadership since 2010, GCI Health has quadrupled its revenue, exponentially increased its client base across a diverse group of healthcare companies, expanded its European footprint, evolved its offerings to meet the needs of a transforming landscape and built its reputation as an industry leader. This year, she drove a 34% revenue increase, added 19 new accounts, doubled the size of the agency’s London office and hired 30 U.S. employees. Importantly, she has nurtured a less than 5 percent turnover rate. During her 30 years in healthcare PR, Wendy has demonstrated a unique ability to push boundaries and reinvent the business of communications again and again. Her success has been driven by her deep passion for people —whether it be her peers, clients or patients at large —and an intense desire to challenge what is possible.

Wendy has extensive experience raising awareness for a wide array of women’s contraceptive options, tackling sensitive matters and understanding how women want to be activated to take charge of their health. With a huge passion for women’s health, Wendy oversees the women’s health franchise for Bayer, the leader in Intrauterine Devices (IUDs). Along with other agency partners, Wendy partnered to create an innovative program to position IUDs as a mainstream contraceptive option for millennial women. Wendy and her team spearheaded a partnership with Glamour magazine and together the Skyla Make Your Mark contest was launched, which sought to celebrate the unique and brave things women are doing and inspire others to follow suit. Women submitted a brief essay and photo or video about how they are making their mark to the contest website. Her work secured 744 Million media impressions in outlets like Associated Press, AOL.com, MSN.com and Yahoo.com, as well as more than 30 national print outlets.
