Show Me The Money: Companies Using Net To Post Stock Info.

Close to 80 percent of publicly traded companies have Web sites, more than double the 35 percent recorded last year in a continuing survey by A. Lavin Communications, with 368 analysts and 572 corporate communications/investor relations pros. And on all those sites, companies are posting their stock information and full annual reports. But not all companies are keeping their sites full of up-to-the-minute information. For instance, only 26 percent reported updating their sites daily. More than a quarter perform updates weekly; a quarter monthly; the rest less frequently. Half of these companies are targeting their online offering to potential buyers, the other are geared toward sales. Eleven percent feel they are reaching their intended audience using the Net as a communications medium. (Lillian Armstrong, 415/433-3777)
