SEO Tactics for PR Success: Getting to the Top of Search Results  One Thing, Suppressing Negative Posts Another Thing Entirely

During tomorrow’s PR News “SEO Tactics for PR Success” Webinar (1:30 – 3 p.m. EST), search engine optimization experts will cover not only the essentials of SEO for PR, but also two areas that sometimes short shrift from experts and PR professionals alike: SEO as a competitive and reputational weapon, and the importance of SEO within social media.

Kai Blum, director of SEO at MS&L Group, will address using SEO for competitive advantage, including tactics for beating the competition to the top of the search page, as well as tips for suppressing negative search results and moving them toward the bottom of the page. “Search engine suppression is an important tactic in masking bad posts online,” says Blum. “But make no mistake, it’s easier to claim Google page-one real estate first than to push off negative listings later.”

Jolina Pettice of TopRank Online Marketing will address SEO within social media, a key topic considering the prevalence of blogging and social networks today. “Seventy-five percent of those who get their news online receive information via forwarded e-mails or posts on social networking sites,” says Pettice. “All too often, communicators approach SEO and social media as independent tactics.”

In addition, the presenters will reveal the 10 key components in setting an effective SEO structure within an organization.
