  • Ackermann Public Relations & Marketing, a full-service public relations firm, has opened a Dallas office in the Arlington section of the Metroplex.

Ackermann first entered the Dallas market last spring and now serves eight active clients, including Mothers Against Drunk Driving; the Matthew 25 Foundation, a non-profit group that works with athletes; and Pre-Paid Phones and Pagers, a cellular phone and paging company. (Ackermann, 423/584-0550)

  • Marshall Consultants Inc., an executive search and management consulting firm in corporate communications, has opened a West Coast office at 24172 Malibu Road, Malibu. The new office will serve both area and national clients. (Marshall, 310/456-0666)
  • Karen Friedman and Dava Guerin joined forces to launch Guerin Public Relations Inc. at The Fairway Office Complex Plaza, suites 409-410, Huntingdon Valley, Pa.

The venture combines Friedman's expertise as a "action news reporter" for more than 11 years and Guerin's experience in public relations. Formerly, Geurin headed Guerin + Kapnek Communications Inc. Acquisition

President and CEO of Falls-Griswold Public Relations Inc.,Robert F. Falls, a 50-percent owner, recently acquired Griswold-Eshleman's 50 percent share of the Cleveland, Ohio-based agency. Terms of the buyout were not disclosed. In addition to the acquisition, the firm adopted a new name, Robert Falls & Co. Public Relations, which was effective Nov. 1 (Robert Falls, 216/696-0229)

New hires/Promotions

  • Jean-Martial Ribes was named managing director of the Paris office for Ketchum Public Relations. Ribes will move from Ketchum's New York headquarters to join the France-based management team in January. (Ketchumn, 212/878-4616)

Sun & Star Campaign

Richards/Gravelle

, a PR and marketing firm based in Dallas, is in the midst of a 100-day-long multimedia campaign for Sun & Star 1996, a festival of Japanese culture. Events, which kicked off two weeks ago, are being held in Dallas and Fort Worth.

The firm promoted the festival through television and radio spots, buttons and banners, press releases and a venture into this century's newest medium --the World Wide Web (http://cityview.com).

  • Paine & Associates racked up the most awards at the Los Angeles Public Relations Society of America banquet held Oct. 30. Paine & Associates, a 2-year-old firm in Los Angeles, received 12 awards, including seven first-place Prisms. First-place honors were given for Paine & Associates' efforts on behalf of a range of companies, including American Suzuki Motor Corp., Polaroid Corp. [PRD], and Taco Bell Corp.
