NAME CHANGES

CIG Adopts Porter/Novelli Name

The Communications International Group, a global network of PR agencies most of which are owned in whole or in part by Omnicom Group [OMC], New York, last week changed its name to Porter Novelli International.

The name recognizes U.S.-based Porter/Novelli, New York, the largest PR firm in the network.

With the name change of the network, many firms will add "Porter Novelli" to their names. For example, high-tech firm Brodeur & Partners, Waltham, Mass., will change its name to Brodeur Porter Novelli. Countrywide Communications, London, England, becomes Countrywide Porter Novelli.

Many of the smaller firms in the network will retain their names for now, but the plan is for all firms eventually to add the Porter Novelli name, said spokesperson Stephanie Harwood. (Porter Novelli, 212/872-8000)
