MEDIA RELATIONS TRAINING

PR firm Media Strategy and the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists launched the core of its campaign to respond to ABC-TV's critical program with a workshop held in April of 1995. Held at the group's annual convention, the training session was attended by more than 100 AANA leaders from all 50 states.

Attendees received materials such as "A Guide to Working With Your Local Media" and materials order forms for the PSAs and newspaper ads.

The workshop also included motivational exercises, demonstrations, and role playing exercises. Media Strategy's president, Susan Silk, who conducted the workshop, said it accomplished two goals.

Participants learned practical skills they could use to advance their campaign. And they learned how to teach those media skills to others who were not able to attend sessions.
