CONGRESSIONAL QUARTERLY BREAKS NEWS ON WEB

September 9, 1996

Congressional Quarterly, an information service covering developments on Capitol Hill, is making Washington news even easier to access with its new site, CQ NewsAlert, unveiled last week (http://www.cq.com/news). Although the service is available as a stand-alone product, it comes free to CQ Monitor and to select "unlimited" CQ Washington Alert subscribers.

CQ NewsAlert will offer congressional news information such as key votes, schedule changes and news analysis on an as-they-get-it basis. Also available will be archives of historical information, and a list of new headlines for users that are posted every time he signs on.

Subscribers log on to NewsAlert with a private identification name, and then they can search the site or use NewsLink (hot link) to access other special reports.

Charles Attreed, director of marketing publications, says the company has received positive feedback from early users of the new site. "In total, it will increase CQ's circulation base, it but was created as an enhancement to the existing news delivery," says Attreed.

CQ NewsAlert can be purchased as a stand-alone product for $14.59 per year. Also coming in September is the CQ Floorwatch, a database full of House Action Reports, online distribution of the Bulletin Broad-faxing Network's daily publications, and draft legislation, which provides inside information on legislative activity.
