Tips for Executing a Global CSR Campaign

Tony Tapia of the Western Union Foundation has helped steer One World, One Family from the start. We asked him what companies should consider when executing a global campaign.

1. What’s the long-term benefit of doing such a project? Where do you want to be in five or 10 years?

2. Have a CEO that’s fully behind the work. It allows you to talk to the executives and engage them and other key stakeholders.

3. Pick your partners carefully. Find where the commonalities are. Strategically, determine how each partner can fully benefit from the relationship, and tactically know who should be doing what at all times.

4. It’s OK to dream and to have a grand vision. “Our World, Our Family wouldn’t have taken off unless we strived to execute the best program possible,” says Tapia. One caveat: Be open to the twists and turns that undoubtedly will come your way.
