APCO takes a truly integrated, 360-degree approach to addressing the complex issues facing its clients, and the converging worlds of business, public opinion and society, and government and public policy.
This holistic, forward-looking approach aims to not only address the risks and responsibilities faced by business, but also uncover and capitalize on sustainable growth opportunities presented by social and environmental megatrends, such as climate change, urbanization and development.
Clients benefit from the diverse composition of APCO’s Sustainable Growth + Corporate responsibility team. The team consists of seasoned communications professionals, former NGO and nonprofit professionals, former government and public policy experts, as well as on-the-ground implementers in critical markets. APCO possesses both global perspective and local expertise, and it leverages team members across its network to impact client initiatives.
APCO, for example, has managed Mars Inc.’s signature employee volunteer programs, the Mars Ambassador Program (MAP) and Mars Volunteer Program (MVP) across 18 countries, including recruiting and retaining volunteers, as well as benchmarking reports to ensure Mars’ programs represent industry best practices. APCO helped Mars increase associate participation by 46% in 2014 while increasing hours logged by 37% from the previous year.
APCO also helped the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition to highlight malnutrition and build support for food fortification in the lead up to the UN General Assembly, generating 28.2 million social media and securing media coverage on the BBC, The New York Times, The Financial Times, Al Jazeera America and the National Geographic.
