Columbia/HCA Healthcare Corporation [COL] has set a new precedent with 100 of its 345 hospitals achieving the highest rating from the nation's healthcare accrediting organization.
And the hospital mega group is not being closed-mouth about it --the accreditations were quickly added to Columbia's advertising campaign which started in August.
The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations has granted Accreditation with Commendation, its highest rating, to nearly one third of Columbia's hospitals. Twenty-nine percent of Columbia hospitals have earned this honor, more than seven times the national rate of 4 percent among non-Columbia facilities. (Columbia, 800/Columbia)
