BPCM Named PR Agency of Record in North America for the City of Marrakech

March 18, 2010 | 10:00 am

PR Newswire

NEW YORK, March 18

NEW YORK, March 18 /PRNewswire/ -- As part of the global integrated plan to promote Marrakech as a travel destination, the Moroccan National Tourist Office (MNTO) has launched a global public relations campaign in seven countries throughout 2010.  The Red By Marrakech tourism campaign has been created by Le Public Systeme, a Paris-based agency with proven tourism experience, and it has been announced that BPCM New York will handle the North American PR operations.

Through the Red By Marrakech concept – which is designed to promote the city as a dynamic, accessible destination rich in design, inspiration and culture – BPCM will seek to increase awareness of Marrakech's tourist and cultural attractions.  By utilizing a strategic and targeted media outreach program, BPCM will add a new dimension to one of Morocco's most diverse cities.

Program elements include:

  • Lifestyle media outreach and press trips: a media relations campaign positioning Marrakech as the destination for North Americans for a city break. This will be achieved by highlighting the city's accessibility and diverse offerings in terms of culture, art, shopping, activities and food.
  • General public events: events taking place in well-known venues in six capital cities around the world – each one as cosmopolitan as Marrakech – will immerse the public into the magic of the city.
  • Opinion leader outreach: Marrakech's spirit and atmosphere – the very essence of the "Pearl of the South" – will be showcased at an exclusive event in the fall in each of the target markets, including New York, London, Paris, Milan, Berlin, and Moscow.

The strategy involves a series of press trips aimed at different lifestyle categories, distributing content and news, building a community network and optimizing Marrakech's presence in social media.
