Tupperware(R) Continues Search for Outstanding Design Talent Via Global Contest

March 5, 2007 | 11:00 am

NEW YORK, March 5 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Design enthusiasts everywhere, it's time to get your imaginations in gear! Tupperware (NYSE: TUP) has announced the launch of its 2007 Translations in Tupperware(R) Global Design Contest and is challenging the public to put their creativity to work. The basis behind the design contest is simple -- entrants are asked to use Tupperware products as their motivation and inspiration for constructing a piece of artwork or unique functional product. The contest will be open to more than 20 countries around the world and all submissions must be received no later than August 31, 2007.

Participants will have the chance to win a trip for two to New York City, a $2,000 cash prize, and the opportunity to have their work included in a public exhibit. Each participating country will select a winner from the following three categories: Fashion, Free Form, and Utility Object. These selected entries will continue on to New York City for a final judging event, where one top prize winner from each category will be chosen by a panel of influencers and taste makers from the design industry. Each submission requires a short essay explaining the concept behind the design, as well as a photograph of the piece. To register or to learn more about the global design contest, entrants should log onto http://www.translationsintupperware.com.

"We've received an overwhelmingly positive response to Translations in Tupperware(R) over the past two years and are excited to continue the momentum," said Rick Goings, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Tupperware Brands Corporation. "We look forward to seeing the innovative use of Tupperware(R) products our contestants create this year."

Submissions from last year's contest included everything from delicately designed purses and a chess set, to a traditional Mexican headdress and a formula one racing car. With the launch of this year's contest, Tupperware expects to double the number of worldwide entries from the previous year.

The Tupperware name symbolizes clever solutions and beautiful design. In 2005, a survey by HFN Magazine ranked Tupperware(R) the most recognizable name in the food storage category in the United States. In 2003, Good Housekeeping magazine awarded the Stuffable(TM) Storage Containers their coveted "Good Buy" Award and Tupperware received the award again in 2004 for the FlatOut!(TM) Containers. Additionally, the products have won design awards all over the world, including the United States, Europe and Japan and have been showcased in many international museums. In 2001, Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum awarded Tupperware the "National Design Award for Corporate Achievement" in recognition of its outstanding design.
