GENRE Magazine Releases ABC Audit: Gay Men's Magazine Circulation Up 72%.

November 1, 2006 | 10:14 am

NEW YORK, Nov. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- GENRE Magazine, a division of Window Media LLC, the nation's largest gay publishing group, today announced its circulation figures for the period ending February 28, 2006. Based on information gathered from the ABC audit, GENRE's circulation increased 72% over prior year and is up 29% since November 2005.

Chris Ciompi, GENRE Editorial Director, said, "As always, my number one goal is to connect with our readers, and the February 2006 benchmark 72% circulation increase from the April 2005 issue proves to me that GENRE is, indeed, connecting-achieving our editorial mission-and, for me nothing could be more satisfying than that. Add to this the fact that our newsstand sell through rate is running at more than 40%, approximately twice the industry average, is a testament that our strategy is working."

Peter Polimino, President of Window Media, added, "We've been working to build a powerful networked community for our readers. Considering that GENRE's December 2006 issue will mark an additional 23% circulation increase from February, for a 112% total increase over the course of the last 18 issues, we're able to confirm this connection with our target audience-adding to an already established pattern of success across all Window's brands."

"GENRE's primary goal is to connect with readers-in an engaging, relevant way. Gay men have such a wide variety of interests, and GENRE tries to address as many as it can through wit, sass, beauty and political commentary. Be it about the depth of his spirit, the spark of his humor or the shape of his body-GENRE strives to be an integral part of each and every gay man's life and style," said William Kapfer, Window Media's Vice President, Marketing.

The circulation figures are being announced in advance of the release of the Audit Bureau of Circulations' (ABC) final audit report for GENRE for the period ended February 28, 2006, which is expected in mid-November-in order to provide advertisers and the public with the most accurate information possible.
