Ken Ross is Director, Communications & Public Affairs, for Lockheed Martin’s Aeronautics business area. In this capacity, he is responsible for leading the development and execution of an integrated communications program that creates, projects, and reinforces perceptions supporting business and community goals. Included in the program are media relations, community relations, multimedia and Web sites, and employee communications.

Previously, Ken was a communications leader with Lockheed Martin’s Global Training and Logistics business in Orlando, Fla., and Mission Systems & Sensors business in Moorestown, N.J., where he led all communication activities for those businesses.

Throughout his career, Ken has led several critical initiatives for Lockheed Martin, including the communication support for the acquisition of Sim-Industries, the development of a communication training program for supervisors, and award-winning community outreach programs.

Prior to joining Lockheed Martin in 2002, Ken was the public affairs director at the State University of New York at New Paltz where he led an extensive reputation rebuilding effort for that campus. Prior to that, he was the strategic communications director for ComEd’s Nuclear Operations Group (now Exelon Nuclear). Ken served on active duty with the U.S. Navy from 1983 to 1996 as a Surface Warfare Officer and Public Affairs Officer. After leaving active duty, he continued serving in the reserves and retired in 2004.

Ken graduated from the University of Massachusetts with a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Economics and Norwich University with a Master of Arts degree in Diplomacy. He was a founding board member of STEMflorida, a statewide organization devoted to addressing science, technology, engineering and math education needs through research and partnerships between businesses, schools and community groups.
