2016 Top Places to Work in PR: The American College of Cardiology

When you join The American College of Cardiology (ACC) as a staff member, you become a part of an over 65-year tradition of innovative, collaborative and driven individuals dedicated to supporting and implementing the College's mission to transform cardiovascular care and improve heart health.

The ACC employs more than 420 staff members in various stages of their careers with a wide array of expertise, hailing from a diverse spectrum of personal and professional backgrounds.

The ACC is a learning organization which focuses on continuous knowledge development as a tool for advancement and growth. The College has a robust leadership program, with online resources and dedicated human resources staff to assist staff and team leaders in ensuring their team's development and leadership needs are being met. The ACC encourages employees to improve their skills, knowledge and expertise through formal continuing education.

New ACC staff are paired with “veteran” staff in a buddy-peer system. Additionally, the ACC assigns mentors—both external and internal—to team leaders based on feedback from assessments done by the Hay Group. The ACC is focused on growing this program; the two dedicated Human Resources staff members assigned to leadership and development will be exploring more mentoring options in the future.

The ACC also encourages employees to become involved in their communities by lending their voluntary support to programs and organizations that enrich the quality of life of others. ACC has an active and thriving Community Service Committee, and provides two days per calendar year of paid administrative leave to full time employees to participate in community service programs.
