2016 Top Places to Work in PR: Fahlgren Mortine

Culture is the driving force behind Fahlgren Mortine (FM)—and its culture could best be described as fun, with a generous dose of quirkiness. FM is an award-winning firm because its programs consistently deliver results for clients to help them better meet their business objectives.

To reward associates for a job well done, FM holds several celebrations throughout the year, including pancake flipping for Groundhog’s Day, a field day afternoon full of relay races called the Garage Games, a day-long Halloween celebration, frequent movie nights and happy hours.

The agency has an established tradition of hosting associates and their family members at a Columbus Clippers game in the summer each year and encourages friendly competition with a pedometer challenge as part of a wellness week. These opportunities allow colleagues to interact in a fun and meaningful way.

In 2011, Fahlgren Mortine launched Fahlgren Mortine University, which is designed to provide formal in-house training to its associates. Courses provide professional development opportunities from gaining a better understanding of FM processes to developing leadership skills.

The program has been positively received by Fahlgren Mortine employees, and the company has invested nearly 2,000 hours in the program to date. In addition, a Professional Development Advisory Board, comprised of staff members from various disciplines who meet to discuss current curriculum and make recommendations for future courses, has been established.
