PRNEWS and the Industry Are at an Inflection Point—What’s Next?

Access Intelligence, the parent company of PRNEWS, has kept pace with the changing communications industry by assembling the largest portfolio of brands serving communities across the media and marketing landscape— from PR to event marketing, advertising technology, programmatic, video, television programming and production, digital marketing and e-commerce—with content, recognition, and live events that bring these communities together. Recently, in order to better serve these core communities by leveraging access to the more than 1 million people reached by its media brands, the company brought together what had been two separate operating groups,  Media and Marketing, into a single Media & Marketing Division.

Diane Schwartz, the longtime leader of PRNEWS and senior vice president of the Access Intelligence Media Group, came on board in 1996, when PRNEWS was just a weekly newsletter. Over 23 years, she led a hard-working team that developed the brand’s broad portfolio and supported the PR community with attention to the key areas of media relations, measurement, crisis management and digital/social transformation. In the process, she grew a newsletter for PR professionals into a multi-channel business that served—and serves—the PR profession. Diane believed—as we all do—that communicators have earned a prominent position within every organization. Diane has now left the company.

Diane’s relationship with the PR community was a driving force in building a brand that lives and breathes its industry. And at this inflection point for PRNEWS, that enthusiasm, insight and drive are the foundation upon which our future will be built. We at PRNEWS have two main priorities: community and education. As the industry evolves, we don’t just record these changes, but identify the opportunities for PR’s growth. And we seek to grow with PR by building strong relationships with our community and responding to your needs.

To that end, I’d like to invite you to join us. Talk to us. Let’s have a call or a lunch. Tell us what’s on your mind. As content director, my number one goal is to give you insights and education that help you excel and that elevate the profession.

Leading our own evolution is division president Kerry Smith, a veteran in creating, building and running media and event companies who shares our passion for providing must-have content and engaging with the community we serve.

What’s next for PRNEWS, and what’s next for PR? Let’s find out together. But there’s one thing I’m sure of: the future is bright.
