Bob Sipchen is the communications director of the Sierra Club, America’s largest and most effective grassroots environmental organization, with 2.1 million members and supporters nationwide.

Before joining Sierra Club in 2007, Bob worked as a reporter, editor and columnist at the Los Angeles Times, where he earned numerous awards including, with Alex Raksin, the Pulitzer Prize and Sigma Delta Chi Gold Medal for Editorial Writing.

Bob is the author of “Baby Insane and the Buddha,” a book about street gangs, and serves as an adjunct professor in the Writing and Rhetoric department at Occidental College. In addition to leading the Sierra Club’s communications efforts, Bob is Editor-In-Chief of the Club’s bi-monthly magazine, Sierra.
