Wired Women

Want to reach women with your communications programs? Head for the Web. Female Internet users are fast outpacing males, according to recent data from Nielsen//Netratings.
As of December, 2001, there were 55 million women online, up 9 percent from December, 2000. The number of men online grew only 3 percent in the same time period, to 49.8 million.
Women are also more likely to surf from home, making up 52 percent of at-home Internet users. Male users spend more time online when they access the Web from home, however,
spending roughly 11 hours a month online from home, compared with nine hours a month for women. (Nielsen//Netratings: http://www.nielsen-netratings.com)
