WHO Announcement Doesn’t Rock IABC Confab…

The backpedaling by the World Health Organization (WHO) about the impact SARS (severe acute respiratory ailment) is having in Toronto hasn't deterred communications executives
from attending the IABC annual conference, which kicks off in Toronto June 8. About 35 people, or just 4% of the 900+ registered, have cancelled their plans to attend the
conference, IABC tells PR NEWS. On May 26, the WHO added Toronto to the list of areas that's had recent transmission of SARS. That announcement followed the WHO's decision in
early May to lift restrictions on travel to Toronto, which, in turn, was made two weeks after the health organization had imposed a travel ban due to SARS. At press time, there
wasn't any travel restriction to Toronto. Contact: [email protected]
