Stephen Jones

Stephen Jones is Executive Vice President and head of the Gadget consumer technology group for GolinHarris in Los Angeles. Mr. Jones is responsible for driving the growth of the firm’s largest client, Nintendo of America, and brings a wealth of consumer and technology experience to the firm. On the Nintendo account, Mr. Jones oversees corporate communications, brand strategy, product launches and media and analyst relations.
An expert on the convergence of new media technologies and the rise of referential word of mouth social trends, Mr. Jones counsels clients on the design and implementation of social media programs. He is an active blogger, writer and public speaker on WOM issues and trends. He has trained executive and PR/marketing staffs at major corporations on new media basics and serves as a senior trainer and new media thought leader for GolinHarris.
Mr. Jones leverages his experience as a former journalist with publications such as Computerworld and BusinessWeek to create media strategies and reputation campaigns that shape an organization’s corporate profile and market identity.
Mr. Jones has held senior management positions with a number of top public relations agencies, including Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide, Ketchum Public Relations, Burson-Marsteller, Hill and Knowlton, Shandwick/Hi-Tech and Wilson McHenry. He has created and overseen corporate and product communication programs for clients such as Sun Microsystems, Apple Computer, Informix, Pioneer Electronics, GoTV, Seagate, Deloitte Consulting, the Liberty Alliance, toysrus.com, Philips, British Telecom and a range of technology start-ups.
Mr. Jones received a Bachelor of Arts in political science from the University of California, Los Angeles and a Master of Arts in communication from Stanford University, where he received a Bickel scholarship.
