Rick Wion
Vice President

Rick Wion is Vice President of digital communications in the Chicago office of GolinHarris. Rick brings more than ten years of thought leadership, Web strategy and digital campaign management experience to the award-winning GH Dialogue team.
Rick has worked with organizations of all shapes and sizes throughout his career from Internet start-ups to the Fortune 500 and is recognized as a practical creative engine for balancing best practices and cutting-edge technologies in online marketing, social media, e-commerce and web-based learning.
He has extensive digital communications experience with non-profit organizations in the “dot.org” space. Prior to joining GolinHarris, Rick served as the Director of Web Services for SmithBucklin corporation, leading the efforts of more than 80 international organizations in Web-based delivery of education, collaboration and e-commerce.
In addition to his hands-on Web work, Rick has written articles on Internet technology and lifestyles for the Chicago Tribune and a variety of national magazines. He has also appeared as a featured speaker on Web technology trends at major digital communications forums.
Wion began his career at Apple Vacations where he developed the company’s first Web site and managed Apple's e-commerce efforts. As a freelance designer, Rick built more than two-dozen boutique Web sites between 1997 and 1998. Rick is active in many professional organizations, including the Society for Information Management, the Product Development Management Association and the Association of Information Technology Professionals. Wion is a graduate of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He lives in Chicago with his wife and son.
