Chief Warrant Office Adam M. Wine
U.S. Coast Guard Public Affairs Programs Branch Chief
CWO Adam M. Wine assumed the duties of the Public Affairs Programs Branch Chief at Coast Guard Headquarters in Washington D.C. on June 1, 2008. His duties include the professional development and training of all Coast Guard public affairs officers and specialist.
Prior to being assign to headquarters, he serves as the Supervisor of the U.S. Coast Guard Public Affairs Detachment in Houston 2003-2008. Prior to being assigned to Houston, he served as the Supervisor of the 9th Coast Guard District Public Affairs Office in Cleveland from 2003-1998. From 1996-1998 he served as a member of the Public Information Assist Team, PIAT, at the National Strike Force Coordination Center in Elizabeth City, N.C. From 1993-1996 he served the senior public affairs specialist at Eighth Coast Guard District in New Orleans. From 1990-1993 he served as a public affairs specialist at the Coast Guard Academy in New London, Conn. He is a 1990 graduate of the Defense Information School in Fort Benjamin Harrison, Ind.
a During his 25 years of Coast Guard service he has responded to more than 50 major cases including: hurricanes Ike, Gustav, Rita and Katrina, the crash of TWA Flight 800 of Long Island, N.Y., the crash of the AMTRAK train the Sunset Limited near Mobile, Ala., the flooding of the Red River along the North Dakota and Minnesota borders, and multiple oil spills; most recently the CITCO spill in Lake Charles, La., and the High Island Pipeline rupture off of Galveston.
He was a member of the team that created the National Response Team Joint Information Center Model, a guide for collaborative communications during emergency response. The JIC model has been adopted by 16 major federal agencies as the plan for conducting public information operations during emergency responses and together situations which multiple organizations need to collaborate to proved timely, useful and accurate information to the public and other stakeholders
CWO Wine is married to Susanne Shetter of Gettysburg, Pa.; they have two daughters Andrea, 25, and Challyndel, 22.
