Twitter Do’s and Don’ts

Do:

• Post links and re-tweet information that relates to, parallels or complements your brand.

• Add value to others’ Twitter experiences.

• Be clear about the action you want people to take.

• Talk back and give solutions to let tweeters know you are listening.

• Promote valuable partnerships within Twitter.

• Use the “Direct Message” function to send personal notes.

• Inject your personality into your tweets.

• Reveal something unknown.

• Use photos when possible.


Don’t:

• Ignore people or leave your Twitter account unchecked.

• Be indulgent or irrelevant.

• Promote shamelessly.

• Poach others’ followers.

• Have personal conversations.

• Feel obligated to follow back.

• Use Twitter to pitch media you don’t already have a relationship with.
