Heard it on the Web. The Internet has become a vital lifeline for radio newsrooms, according to a study by News Generation, Inc. A survey of 100 stations in the top 50
markets (mostly news/talk stations) finds that 93% of stations use the Web as a newsgathering source. This marks a 40% increase in radio station Web usage over last year.

But digital preferences don't hold the same weight when it comes to receiving news. Survey results show that 59% of stations still prefer to receive pitches via fax,
while 26% opt for email (7% prefer phone contact). When asked to describe the attributes of a good pitch, survey respondents cited timeliness (34%), newsworthiness (28%) and the
ability to localize the story for a particular market (15%) as critical.
