It's difficult for PR pros to get their hands around all of the new technologies swarming around the marketplace. Still, the more technologies that become available to
consumers the more targets PR execs have to get their message(s) out. This past summer ChangeWave, a market research company, surveyed 452 of its Alliance members -- a group
consisting of early adopters of new technologies -- to get their take on leading audio-visual and infotainment products. Some key results of the survey:

  • The percentage of respondents who own a DVD-R (19%) is equal to the respondents who say they intend to purchase DVD-Rs this year, indicating that the technology is
    entering the mass-market phase.
  • About 39% of respondents say they would consider a TiVo-like service from their cable company so they can better control their TV viewing.
