A revamped sustainability plan launched in 2011 has only furthered this commitment. Since the launch CCE has grown its business by 3.5% while reducing its carbon emissions by 8.4%; it invested $23 million on carbon reduction projects in 2011; it became the first soft drinks company to receive the Carbon Trust Standard Award; it invested in solar energy panels to help power manufacturing sites; and it achieved water use ratio (the amount of water used to make one liter of product) to 1.43 liters to liter, down 6% from 2007. —Steve Goldstein
