2012 CSR Awards: Hall of Fame – The Body Shop

Since The Body Shop was founded by Anita Roddick in 1974, the cosmetics chain has ably demonstrated corporate social responsibility via strong values. The Body Shop adheres to five core CSR pillars: Against Animal Testing, Support Community Trade, Activate Self Esteem, Defend Human Rights and Protect Our Planet. In 1987, The Body Shop launched Community Fair Trade—one of the first companies to execute the concept. Whenever possible, it uses Fair Trade ingredients in its products. Always mindful of the environment, the company has taken steps to making its stores more green. And finally, The Body Shop’s Stop The Trafficking of Children and Young People campaign is raising awareness and funds for those at risk of human trafficking. —SVC
