    District Court settlement of a suit that alleged CEO Michael Saylor overstated sales and profits from June 1998 through March 2000. Staff Senior PR Analyst Alka Nayyar says
    layoffs will affect all departments.
  • Herndon, VA-based VeriSign is testing a new service that allows users to register Web-based phone numbers much the same way they register domain names. The service, called
    WebNum, allows users to log onto a company's Web site on Web-enabled phones by simply dialing a phone number. VeriSign offers free service until May 1 to promote the service and
    growth of a new customer base.
