- The latest crisis of corporate trust unfolds at WorldCom as yet another major corporation reveals improper accounting practices. The word from John Sidgmore, CEO, in a
statement released to the media: He and fellow members of the senior management team are "shocked by these discoveries" of improprieties by the financial team and "committed to
operating WorldCom in accordance with the highest ethical standards." Hopefully, Sidgmore and company have learned a lesson from Ken Lay and are sincere in their "shock." The
company will lay off more than 20 percent of its workforce (17,000 jobs). - Ogilvy PR appoints Stephen Jones client service leader for its Sun Microsystems account and managing director/co-head of its global technology practice. Jones comes to Ogilvy
