2016 Agency Elite Awards: Community Relations/Volunteer Programs

Winner: Coyne PR - Good to Go

In 2015, Coyne PR leadership created a program that ignited a new level of generosity within its wider community. Tom Coyne, CEO, introduced the “Good to Go” program, which was developed to encourage all employees to perform acts of kindness and charity to make a difference in the lives of others. Employees were asked to complete at least one charitable act during the month of October—no good deed was too small. Whether employees volunteered for a full day of service at Habitat For Humanity or simply bought a cup of coffee for the next person in the café line, every action counted. At the end of the program, each employee who participated in Good to Go was entered into a random drawing for the chance to win an all-expense-paid trip to the exotic Waikiki Beach Resort in Honolulu, Hawaii.

In total, Coyne PR employees made an impressive difference in their communities. Some supplied more than 48,000 bottles of fresh water to South Carolinians affected by Hurricane Joaquin. Others donated over $10,000 to more than 20 charities, contributed 1,200 pieces of clothing to clothing drives and paid off over $1,000 in holiday layaway bills for families. Pet-friendly Coyne employees fed an entire pet shelter for a week and supplied more than 100 pounds of pet toys. Good to Go reminded Coyne’s workers how fulfilling and rewarding it is to donate their time.
