The Voice of History Being Made

Undeniably, it was the most important and demanding day in recent history for all news media personnel, who continued to file reports as the rest of the nation shut down.
Details were sometimes spurious - one network reported markets were closed worldwide - but reporting was commendably sound, given U.S. financial markets closed and all major
airports were out of service.

Jack Felton, former chair of the PRSA and professor at the University of Florida, Gainesville, adds that the media have learned a lesson in responsible reporting from previous
disasters like the Oklahoma City bombing. "We got too much hype from Oklahoma, and I've noticed how careful the newscasters are in what they're saying and expressing."
