Survey Says

Other important findings from the Council of PR Firms' survey of Fortune 1,000 leaders:

Poor Gore. Vice President Cheney and Secretary of State Powell would be the best CEOs (with each garnering 23 percent of the vote), followed by President Bush and former New
York Mayor Rudy Giuliani (15 percent for both). Next in order of preference were Secretary of Defense Rumsfeld and British Prime Minister Tony Blair. While former President Bill
Clinton fared poorly (3% of the vote), not one of the executives surveyed selected former Vice President Al Gore.

Capacity for Communications. Effective communications skills are the hallmark of an excellent CEO, according to almost half the survey respondents. Decisiveness (31 percent)
and being a visionary (15 percent) were next in line.

The survey was conducted among 150 presidents, EVPs, directors and CEOs of Fortune 1,000 companies during January.
