ADVERTISING ABSTRACTCOMPUTERIZATION LIFTS APPEAL OF MEDICAL ADS

Advanced Imaging Inc. created this innovative print advertising campaign to tout its own work in the medical industry.

A pioneer in the use of computers for medical illustration, David Bolinsky, president of Advanced Imagining Inc. in Wallingford, Conn., wanted to express the artistic side of human anatomy and physiology in his ads.

He has created ads for Michigan State's College of Human Medicine and the Biomedical Communications Center at Yale University. He's also done animation for the Medical News Network, a cable TV show, demonstrating the use of fetal brain tissue. But his own ads have a three-dimensional look. They have been published in medical magazines such as Modern Healthcare and Medical Illustrations Magazine.

"I wanted people in the health industry to see that medicine and anatomy can be beautiful and aesthetic," said Bolinsky. "By using computer illustration, I can expand the world of medical art work."

For all of his illustrations, Bolinsky uses Wavefront software running on a Silicon Graphics workstation. (Advanced Imaging, 203/284-1224)
