Treci Johnson
Special Assistant to the Director of Communications and Public Affairs
U.S. Department of Labor

Treci Johnson is a special assistant to the director of communications and public affairs at the U.S. Department of Labor in Washington, D.C. She was appointed to serve the Obama Administration in September 2009. After providing guidance on traditional public affairs activities for a year and a half (press releases, news conferences, etc.), Treci was tapped to lead the department's growing efforts to communicate with the public and the press via social media. She currently oversees the department's blog and its Facebook, Twitter, Flickr and YouTube accounts. She also has developed a new media strategy based on successful public- and private-sector examples. Having hosted Twitter town halls and participated in a number of Twitter-centric events, Treci is an expert on using the platform to promote activities—and maximize limited resources. She frequently represents the Labor Department at events to share tips on effectively using social media.
