Managing Director, Communications Analytics
As the manager director of communications analytics, Alan Chumley leads W20’s communications analytics practice group. The W2O Group is a network of analytics and insights-driven, digital-first marketing and communications firms: WCG, sentient, twist, pure and marketeching. Alan brings nearly 20 years’ experience to providing data-driven, agile and actionable counsel to clients. W20’s communications analytics group uses a variety of proprietary methods to help understand audiences, shape strategy, optimize content and demonstrate the value of communications efforts.
Prior to joining W20, Alan was a partner at FleishmanHillard, where he built measurement frameworks, created and grew social analytics teams, consulted on social media command centers, consulted on global social listening and measurement solutions for a Fortune 10 company and created a two-time award-winning owned social content optimization method.
Prior to joining FleishmanHillard, Alan counseled clients on communications strategy based on insights born out of media content analysis aligned with brand and reputation studies while at organizations such as CARMA Global Media Analysts and Cormex Research.
Before turning his attention to analytics, Alan started his career as a PR strategic planner during which time he gained experience in media, employee, government and investor relations as well as integrated marketing communications.
A frequent industry speaker, author, and graduate level course creator and instructor, Alan has a masters degree in communication and culture with research focused in: audience studies, reception analysis and media uses.
