Simply The Best

Judges in this year's Platinum PR Awards poured through thousands of entries to crown nine stellar winners and an equal number of honorable mentions at last week's swanky
awards reception in Washington, DC. But when it came time to extol the "Best of Show" campaign, one entry stood out from the rest - mainly because its results were supersonic.
Access Communications claimed highest honors for the launch of Sega Dreamcast - a product debut that set records with many retailers as the "biggest 24-hour sales period in
history." In the first two days, the videogame maker scored ink in every key daily in the U.S., as well as 650 TV news segments. More importantly, Sega logged $97 million in
sales and sold 500,000 units during the product's first 24 hours on shelves.
