Did you know that Feb. 12-19 is National Specialty Coffee Week? Neither did we. So we called the number on the press release and talked to Mike Ferguson, who does PR for the
Specialty Coffee Association out in Long Beach, Calif. Turns out, it's only "Specialty Coffee Week" because they say it is. Ferguson says they opted not to go the official
route to get it recognized because it would be a "hassle." Does this mean other folks out there who make scones can declare "National Premium Pastry Week?" And in the spirit of
inclusion, shouldn't we also recognize those who make the cream that makes specialty coffee even more special? So we could have "National Half-and-Half that goes in the
Specialty Coffee Week?" In closing, this reporter hereby declares next week "National Snarky Journalist Week."
