This essential Social Media for Nonprofits Workshop will show you how to leverage Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn and change the way your organization is perceived by all of your stakeholders.

Social media has been a game-changer for all organizations, but perhaps most of all for nonprofit organizations. As a communicator working for or with a nonprofit, you’re accustomed to working with limited resources for your stakeholder outreach. Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn have low barriers of entry when it comes to cost—but are you making the most of the many hours you may already be investing in your social media strategy?

Join PR News on May 18 for the half-day Social Media for Nonprofits Workshop (PR News’ Nonprofit PR Awards Luncheon will follow immediately afterward) that will break down the communications potentialities—and possible hazards—of using social media. Workshop trainer Danielle Brigida of the National Wildlife Federation will show you which nonprofits have taken best advantage of Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn so far—and point out some mistakes that have been made—and lay out tactics that will enable you to turn your nonprofit organization’s or nonprofit partner’s members and funding sources into an interactive, discussion-based, growing community; manage crises in real time; build and market your brand; engage current and potential corporate partners; and increase your Facebook “likes,” Twitter followers and LinkedIn group members and drive them to your Web site with relevant content and discussions.

At this workshop you will learn how to:
  • Create a growing community with your membership and funding sources on Facebook
  • Determine how much and which content from your Web site should be shared on Facebook, and understand what is working when it comes to increasing likes and engagement on your Facebook page.
  • Use Facebook as a discussion tool and avoid being too promotional.
  • Increase your Twitter account’s followers and encourage your stakeholders to follow you.
  • Use third-party tools to monitor your Twitter activity and identify influencers
  • Use LinkedIn to attract more members and potential partners to your organization.
  • Master the latest tools on LinkedIn to take advantage of its vast network of professionals.
  • Create best practices for handling social media workflow internally: Who’s posting, how often and who should be the official voice of your organization?
  • Use Facebook’s metrics and Google Analytics to track and know your audience better.
  • Manage and respond to negative wall posts.

This hands-on, interactive Social Media for Nonprofits Workshop will elevate your organization to new levels of engagement and show you how to build a community that will help it reach its goals in these challenging times. Nonprofit communicators need a smart social media strategy that will help them make every minute invested pay off in increased awareness, membership and funding. You’ll walk away with expert tips, tactics and must-have checklists that you can use right away to lay the groundwork for a winning social media strategy.
