Frontier Airlines Ad Campaign Nominated for Emmy Award

December 24, 2007 | 11:00 am

DENVER, Dec. 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Flip the Dolphin is practicing his acceptance speech and Jack the Rabbit is trying to find a tuxedo that fits. (Of course, Jim, Joe, Jay and Gary the Penguins don't need tuxedos). In fact the entire Frontier Airlines (Nasdaq: FRNT) family is beaming with pride with the announcement that Frontier's Favorite Animal Campaign has been nominated for an Emmy Award.

The campaign is up for a Technology & Engineering Emmy(R) Award in the category of Outstanding Achievement in Advanced Media Technology for Best Use of "On Demand" Technology. Frontier's campaign is one of four nominees in the category along with such respected companies as Disney and Major League Baseball.

Grey New York created the Favorite Animal Campaign for Frontier back in Jan. 2007. It combined 15 different television spots airing in the Denver market, plus additional commercials posted on the popular YouTube video-sharing Web site; an online Campaign Headquarters at FrontierAirlines.com, including a campaign blog with more than 130 pages of postings; a 14-minute podcast featuring a candidates' debate; and an online campaign merchandise store that sold more than 900 "press kits," featuring T-shirts, buttons and stickers for each candidate. The campaign generated several million votes and increased traffic at Frontier's Web site by nearly 50 percent compared to the previous year at that time. The Penguins -- Joe, Jim, Jay and Gary -- were named Denver's Favorite Animal at the end of the five-week campaign.

"One of the big criteria for this nomination was the depth of the involvement of the interactive medium," said Diane Willmann, Frontier Airlines director of advertising. "This was cutting-edge technology and deep creativity meant to engage consumers in the Frontier brand. Judging by the public reaction to the campaign, we knew it was a success. This nomination is a further validation of the multi-dimensional appeal of the campaign and we appreciate the fact that the Emmys recognized the hard work, talent and vision that both Frontier and Grey New York put into it. We are keeping all of our paws, flippers and fingers crossed as we look forward to the awards ceremony."

The winner will be announced at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas on Jan. 7, 2008. For more information, please visit http://www.emmyonline.org/mediacenter/tech_2k7_nominees.html
