PR Spotlight: Rocking to a CSR Beat

First there were online communities that enabled you to post your favorite video clips for the world to see. Then came "monetized" video sites that offered a share of revenues

for those whose who were posting these clips online.

And now comes a monetized video site with a difference: Corporate social responsibility, with a considerable green hue.

Panjea.com is already generating buzz in the online music world. To date, it has attracted talent ranging from well-regarded up-and-comers (The Dresden Dolls and Lady

Sovereign) to those in search of their foot-in-the-door moment (including Tigarah and The Go! Team) to old favorites of the underground music scene (most notably And You Will Know

Us By the Trail of the Dead).

Unlike YouTube or MySpace.com, music artists using Panjea.com can sell their original music and videos online, keep a majority percentage of ad revenue to their

Panjea.com pages, and earn points by referring others to visit the site and upload music (the points can be redeemed for downloading music and videos from the site).

But, of course, there is more to life than cutting edge music. Even the Panjea.com team realizes there is a wider world beyond the Internet - and as most people know, it is

not a healthy world in regard to its ecosystem. Thus, the site founders created Planet Points, which allows its members to donate a percentage of their Panjea.com-based earnings

to an environmental charity of their choice.

"We feel very strongly about climate change," explains Arthur Meyerovich, co-founder and director of business development. "So we developed this whole program around it."

Meyerovich is not picky about which environmental charity is targeted for a donation - either major nonprofits or smaller local groups are welcome to receive aid.

"We are very flexible with our members on this," he says. "And when someone makes a donation, we will take it and match it, up to 5%."
