Buzzback Market Research and Pantone Inc., developer of the PANTONE color system, recently released their annual Color Survey (2005). The survey queried more than 2,750
Americans (representative of U.S. Census Bureau stats) on their attitudes toward color as it relates to a host of industries. Some findings:

  • Color is an important purchase decision factor (45%+ citing) primarily in attire, home and transportation categories.
  • Color is less important (28% citing) in personal-care categories and electronics (PC, iPod, PDA, MP3).
  • Four colors were regarded as "favorites" by more than 5% of respondents; three of them were shades of blue and the other fiery red.
