PR PEOPLE: JOB CHANGES

HULLIN RESIGNS FROM TIME WARNER PR POST

Tod R. Hullin, one of the highest paid communications executives in the country, has resigned from Time Warner Inc. as senior VP of communications and public affairs.

Hullin, whose compensation package exceeded $1 million last year, plans to move to Utah with his wife. Time Warner execs are saying little about Hullin's decision and pointing media to a memo the company issued on Feb. 1.

Time Warner Chairman Gerald Levin and Time Warner President Richard Parsons have not decided if Hullin will be replaced and there is "no time table" for that call to be made, according to Edward Adler, a spokesperson for Time Warner. Turner Broadcasting purchased Time Warner on Oct. 10 for $7.5 billion. Adler said that Hullin's resignation will not affect the way Time Warner handles its PR strategies, which include corporate communications, investor relations, and media and government relations. That department will remain intact with its present staff of about 50.

In the PR community, Hullin, who had been with Time Warner for six years, is known for his hefty salary and for the deal he struck when he came on board at Time Warner. His compensation, in addition to pension contributions and other employee benefits, included options on 35,000 shares of Time Warner stock. Hullin's salary last year was $525,000 salary, plus a $550,000 bonus.
