Policy Makers out of Touch On Health Issues

Washington policy makers underestimate the value that consumers place on health information with 54% saying that healthcare issues will influence decisions on who they vote for
in November, according to a recent Discovery Health Channel poll.

Consumers are especially interested in new treatments, new medicines and alternatives to traditional healthcare.

The survey highlights where Washington policy makers are most out of sync with consumers on health issues:

  • While 54% of consumers say healthcare will be "very important" in deciding their vote in November, only 24% of Washington insiders feel the same way.
  • 67% of Democrats, 41% of Republicans and 53% of Independents view healthcare as "extremely important" in determining the presidential vote.
